In true Colgate fashion, the loading of the new Library Automated Storage & Retrieval system was completed at 7:15 p.m on June 13, 2005. This marks a new phase in the construction process of the new Case Library and Center for Information Technology - all library collections and personnel are now out of the building (or housed in the protected LASR vault) and the renovation and expansion activities can kick up to high gear.
Congratulations to all library staff, student workers and floaters who made this effort a complete success and finished the task ahead of schedule. 22,000 volumes were taken from the shelves at Case and loaded into LASR bins every weekday beginning May 9th.
Items housed in the LASR system can be requested via Colgate's Library Catalog (Mondo) when library services resume. We anticipate accepting LASR requests for pick-up at Cooley Science Library beginning June 27th, and full library services will be available in James C. Coglate Hall (Student Union) before the end of the month.
